As per above you are able to add your own sources of mapping and sometimes this includes the requirement for offline access, in which case maps must be served up locally. There are several ways to do this outlined below. My personal favourite is the Tileserver-gl docker option, but of course this does require Docker.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch3 id=\"using-pmtiles-files\">\u003Ca class=\"header-anchor\" href=\"#using-pmtiles-files\">Using PMtiles files\u003C\u002Fa>\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cp>You can use a PMtiles format map archive file from \u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fdocs.protomaps.com\u002Fbasemaps\u002Fdownloads\">Protomaps\u003C\u002Fa> as a base layer map.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Note\u003C\u002Fstrong>: the whole planet file is over 100GB so be warned both for local storage and your download speed. You can download or extract just a portion of it if you use the \u003Cstrong>pmtiles\u003C\u002Fstrong> command line with the extract option. Use \u003Ccode>pmtiles extract --help\u003C\u002Fcode> to see the options.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Copy your .pmtiles file(s) into your \u003Ccode>~\u002F.node-red\u003C\u002Fcode> user directory. Usually you will start with\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cpre>\u003Ccode>sudo apt-get install mapserver-bin cgi-mapserver gdal-bin\n\u003C\u002Fcode>\u003C\u002Fpre>\n\u003Cp>Configuring that, setting up your tiles, and creating a \u003Cstrong>.map\u003C\u002Fstrong> file is way beyond the scope of this README so I will leave that as an exercise for the reader.
